Covid 19 was obviously very bad in many ways. But in industry, it demanded that we change or die. In many of the businesses that we provide services to and our own, we changed the way we operate to suit the law at the time and now, it’s more so to meet business demands and that of the modern worker.
We were still required to provide our services to those key industries who continued to operate throughout Covid, some services remained ‘face to face’ but with social distancing measures in place, For everything else, we needed to find a different way of working. The main change being, the growth of distance or remote learning & services.
The way that we currently offer our services are:
- Our comprehensive E-Learning suite allows you to study various different subjects at a time and place that suits you. Many are accredited through 3rd parties such as IOSH. https://videotilehost.com/1stchoicesafetytraining/purchaseCourse.php
- Face to Face at your location is where we bring our services and training to you in your workplace.
- Face to Face at an external location. We organise an external venue to carry out the training.
- VIrtual or Distance. Often carried out via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, your staff can log on from a location convenient for them, usually in the workplace or home.
Whilst we still prefer ‘face to face’ learning as a company due to the fact that it gives personal contact with the trainers and they will better understand the needs of your business, we’d just like to explain a little more about our Distance or Virtual offerings.
What is it?
As stated above, the change came mainly from demands places upon industry by Covid 19. Utilising simple platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom, with a good internet connection, we can supply most of our services remotely in the same way we would if it were ‘Face to Face’.
Regarding training we can offer distance learning in subjects such as Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Mental Health First Aid & IOSH courses to name a few.
We can also carry out some health and safety services, planning meetings, diarised catch ups etc virtually too.
Advantages:
1 Safety
Whether we like it or not, Covid 19 is still with us. Distance learning is a safer way to deliver training during the pandemic because it removes the risk of transmission between our staff and yours.
2 Convenience
As you long as you have a computer or phone with a camera and a Wi-Fi connection, you can join a virtual classroom or meeting from the comfort and safety of your home or office.
3 Affordability
There can be expenses associated with traditional training sessions or meetings, such as travel and catering for attendees. Distance learning or meetings are an extremely cost-effective way of carrying out our services.
4 Employee engagement
Don’t underestimate the value of training in bringing people together and also making them feel cared for and listened to.
5 Duty of care
All employers have a moral and legal duty of care to the people who work with them. Most business leaders we talk to want to train their staff because it’s the right thing to do. Distance learning is an easy way to fulfil this duty no matter where they are working.
6 Eco-friendly
In short, without the commute to work for ‘Face to Face’ services, for many staff members, you are reducing your (& our) company’s carbon footprint.
7 Corporate social responsibility
More and more, those groups so important to business success – customers, investors, regulators and suppliers to name a few – want to see businesses that behave responsibly. And this includes how they look after their people and the environment.
8 Productivity
Distance learning courses that promote positive physical and mental wellbeing can boost the productivity of your workforce. According to the International Social Security Association, there is a 120% return on investment in health and safety at work.
9 Fewer lost working hours
Staff will only be engaged to the services for the amount of time that it lasts. There is no dead time for driving etc as they can be accessed from anywhere.
10 Transition to new technologies
And finally, investing in health and safety distance learning will hone your organisation’s approach to operating as a business online. 1st Choice Safety will show you how you can deliver training courses remotely.
