The What 3 Words app is an amazing free app that has unlimited uses.
Whether your children are lost and don’t know where they are or you come across an emergency situation in the middle of a hill walk, this app will tell you exactly where you are to within a few metres.
How does it work? Well, earth has been split up into 3 metre square grids, each one of these grid squares has a unique 3 word combination. You can send your 3 word combination and whoever you have sent it to, can then set a map to find you.
Who recognises it? Most emergency services have systems in place to use this information, many sat-navs and mobile phone mapping systems are changing to accept the 3 words. But if you use the information within the app itself, the mapping etc will automatically be set for you, It really is easy.
