Site Safety Days
This time last week, we were deep into one of the services that we don’t often talk about, but really should!!!
For the 3rd year running, ITW in Leicester closed their site and handed it over to us for the day to carry out a Site Safety Day.
After several planning meetings with the site management team, we put together another fun safety day for their staff.
Some of the activities that took place were:
Electrical safety: site specific and general electrical safety and activities including electric shock wrist bands for wrong answers.
Fire Safety: Smokehouse experience with casualties, live fire practicals using fire extinguishers and fire blankets. Site specific and general fire safety.
Manual Handling: Manual Handling assault course team challenge.
First Aid: First aid challenge with manikins that inflate balloons during CPR, a casualty who is bleeding out and can only be saved with correct answers and AED input etc.
Spillage: Information on site COSHH arrangements and hazard sign recognition followed by a large simulated spill and clean up on the site car park.
Fire Drill
We also coordinated the site FIre Drill by smoking out an area of the building for realism, had one of our team act as a staff member refusing to leave to challenge Fire Marshall’s and another acting as the Fire Service for information handover on their arrival. Followed by a debrief of how it went. (We contacted the local Fire Service control staff to make them aware that there would be smoke issuing from the site windows)
Throw in some team building, some ice breakers and some prizes and you end up with a fantastic day that received brilliant feedback from the company management and staff.
